SuperCONCRETE Tip 1

SC-BASE Geometry Optimisation

The first tip in our SuperCONCRETE usage tip series covers our concrete BASE design program which was introduced in version 6.4 and can be used for the design of bases to BS8110.  One of the most powerful features of the program is the geometry optimisation option which will allow you to let the program choose the best size for the group of bases based on certain parameters you enter.

View Demonstration

  • Open the Design Templates dialog and select the template you wish to use Geometry Optimsation with
  • Go to the Geometry tab and tick "Optimise base size"
  • At this point you can enter parameters for the maximum and minimum permissible optimsation range for each side of your base group, you can also enter the ratios that you would like to keep for the sides of your base group and the position of the column
  • Carry out a design as normal and the base group will be optimised for more efficient size

You can change the values for increment and base size rounding in the SC-BASE options dialog.

More SuperSTRESS/SuperSTEEL/H-LOAD/AutoLoader tips and techniques like this are covered in our training course.
