Installing Advance Design may take from 5 to 10 minutes depending on the system speed.
Hardware and Software requirements
Hardware:
PC with Pentium IV Processor
2048 MB RAM memory (4096 MB recommended)
Min. 250 MB free disk space on the hard disk
Network adapter
DVD Drive
Windows compatible graphics adapter (128 MB video RAM recommended), with the latest video driver with support for OpenGL
Software:
Windows XP Pro (or newer) or Windows Vista Pro, Business, Ultimate (32-bit or 64-bit versions).
Minimum screen resolution: 1024*768
24-bit color palette recommended
Installing several Advance Design versions on one computer
Installing a new Advance Design version will not affect the previous installed versions of the software as long as the installation folder is different from the one used for the previous version.
Uninstalling previous Advance Design version
Advance Design uninstalling operations delete only the application files, and not the user created files that are stored in the installation folder. Therefore, before deleting the entire installation folder of an older Advance Design version, it is strongly recommended to verify its contents.
When installing a new Advance Design version it is not necessary to uninstall the previous versions. However, if you want to uninstall older versions, use the command "Add / Delete Programs" from the Control Panel.
1. Check the available disk space on your computer.
2. In your Windows session you must be logged in as administrator or you must have administrator rights.
3. In case you are using a security key*, make sure it is plugged into the computer.
4. Close all open applications.
You can specify an installation folder during the software setup.
Insert the installation DVD into the DVD drive. The setup program starts automatically and the following dialog box appears.
Go to SETUP and select the appropriate version: 32-bit or 64-bit.
The 64-bit version of Advance Design can be installed only on 64-bit operating systems.

Installing a network version (FLEXlm)
Advance Design can be used simultaneously by a number of N stations using the FLEX security. The number of allowed licenses is specified in a license file located on the server. The file is delivered by e-mail.
Server Installation
1. Login as administrator.
2. Install "License Server" application on the server. On your installation DVD, from the Tools / Protection / SERVERS / FLEXLM folder, launch the GrLicenseServer.msi file.
Installing the license
1. After receiving the *.adlic license file (see Requesting a license), launch the ADLicenseInstall.exe file from Protection / SERVERS / FLEXLM folder.
2. In the installation window, browse to the location of the license file on the server.
3. Click "Install" to start the license installation.
Installing a network version (NETHASP)
Using Advance Design in a local network allows:
The utilisation of a number of N licenses simultaneously on a single security key;
The installation of Advance Design on a workstation connected to a server without using the installation DVD.
For a network installation of the program a NETHASP security key is required.
To install a NETHASP key on the server, follow the next steps (performed by the network administrator only):
1. Connect the NETHASP key to the server.
2. Install the HASP drivers on the server, as follows:
- From the Advance Design DVD, launch Protection / Drivers / HASP - Windows 32-bit 64-bit / HaspSRM / HASP_SRM_driver_setup / HASPUserSetup.exe
- Follow the steps of the installation wizard.
3. Install the NETHASP License Manager application.
This application allows the communication between Advance Design and the NETHASP security key and manages the software utilisation by the workstations in the network:
- From the Advance Design DVD, launch Protection / SERVERS / HASP / Win32 / HASP_License_Manager / lmsetup.exe.
- Follow the steps of the installation wizard.
4. Restart the server. After performing these steps, the workstations of the network can start using Advance Design, while the HASP License Manager installed on the server manages the license protection.
Requesting a license
Important! The license file is delivered according to the host name, disk serial number and the Ethernet address. For a network license, make sure to include this information in the license request e-mail.
To request an Advance Design license, proceed as follows:
| 1. On your installation DVD, go to Tool / Protection / Server / FLEXlm/Request license and launch the LicenceWizardLoader.exe file. You can also click on Start / Programs / Graitec / Advance Design / License Request. The Authorization wizard appears. Select the "Request your user license" option and click Next. |

| 2. An information window appears. Click Next after reading the messages. |

| 3. Enter all the required information for the license request and click Next. |

| 4. Advance provides the option to send the information by e-mail or by fax. Select your preference and click Next. |

| 5. A window with a new information message appears. Read the information and then click Finish. |
 |
6. Send your request: - If the method for sending the license request was by e-mail, an e-mail message is automatically prepared. Send the request to authorization.advance@graitec.com. For a network license specify the number of users for this license. - If the method for sending the license request was by fax, a fax is automatically prepared with the formatted text. Print the fax and send it to the specified fax number. Within 24 hours an e-mail containing the required *.adlic file (for network or standalone license) will be sent to you. |
1. Flex standalone
After receiving the *.adlic license file (see Requesting a license):
- From the Windows Start menu select Programs / Graitec / Advance Design / Security.
- Select "Flex" configuration type from the drop-down list.
- In the license file dialog box, select "I already have a license file."
- Browse to the location of the license file on the client workstation.
- Click Open
- On the Security dialog box, click OK.
2. Client workstation (Flex)
1. Copy the *.adlic license file received for the server on the client workstation also, for example in the Program Files / Graitec / License folder.
2. From the Windows Start menu select Programs / Graitec / Advance Design / Security.
3. Select "Flex" configuration type from the drop-down list.
4. In the license file dialog box, select "I already have a license file."
5. Browse to the location of the license file on the client workstation.
6. Click Open
7. In the Security dialog box, click OK.
3. Hasp (standalone)
1. From the Windows Start menu select Programs / Graitec / Advance Design / Security.
2. Select "HASP" configuration type from the drop-down list.
3. Click OK.
4. Hasp (client station)
1. From the Windows Start menu select Programs / Graitec / Advance Design / Security.
2. Select "NETHASP" configuration type from the drop-down list.
3. Click OK.
Working with old projects in the new version
Once the new version of the software has been installed, you can open the projects already created in previous Advance Design versions. It is important to know that, once opened with the new Advance Design version, these files can no longer be loaded in the older versions of the software. Thus, it is recommended to create a copy of these files for backup, or even duplicate the folder structure containing old projects.
